Originally from Waimate in South Canterbury, I have extensive clinical experience over a period of 28 years within a variety of Counselling and Education Institutions in both Australia and New Zealand. I have full membership with NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors). I have completed a Masters in Clinical Counselling, with a focus on Family Therapy, Couples Therapy and Group Work from the University of New England, Australia, and a postgraduate Bachelor in Counselling from the same University I currently work as a Clinical Counsellor across several schools in Dunedin, as well as a small private practice located in central Dunedin. The experience of engaging in counselling is a deeply personal journey that affects all of us in different ways and sometimes in ways we would never have expected. By us talking together through your concerns, counselling can help you to see solutions you didn’t know were there. It can also help you find ways to cope better and move on in your life I understand and honour that each person story is unique in that we are all affected by life in different ways. I also understand the importance of being respectful of each persons culture and beliefs systems My clinical work is shaped by several different counselling modalities and frameworks, including: Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Enneagram work, Lifestage Transition Work, Counselling with teenagers, Counselling work with Men and Boys, Counselling work with Women, Loss and Grief Counselling, and Trauma Informed Counselling I am also able to offer; short term funded (free) counselling for families and/or friends affected by suicide and for Individuals and whānau who would benefit from brief therapeutic support focused on bereavement from suicide. This is for anyone bereaved by suicide at any stage in their life. short term funded counselling for young people (5-24 yrs of age) through 'I am Hope' https://www.iamhope.org.nz/ As an NZAC approved Supervisor I am able to offer supervision for students and counsellors, and leadership/staff in other work sectors. I am happy to discuss your supervision needs with you. I work from the Dunedin Psychotherapy and Counselling Centre, 40A Filleul Street, central Dunedin. However, if you prefer, I can provide confidential online counselling via zoom. I am available for appointments most; Mon, Tue, Wed and Thur late afternoons and evenings, and Saturdays.
