Karen is a Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and has been working in the mental health setting for over 20 years. She has expertise in working with people aged 16 and over who have a wide variety of life problems. In addition to providing therapy to people with adjustment difficulties and mood disorders, Karen also works with individuals who have addictions, interpersonal conflict, emotion dysregulation, self-harming behaviours and trauma. In order to effect change in her client group, Karen has expertise in a variety of therapeutic approaches including; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and psychodynamic approaches, such as Schema Therapy and the Conversational Model. She uses her knowledge, skills and experience to tailor her interventions to the needs of each and every individual client. She does so, however, using a warm, compassionate approach with much focus on developing a strong therapeutic alliance. For psychologists, Karen has been a Board Approved Supervisor for 10 years and is able to provide clinical supervision for Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychology Registrars and both fully and provisionally Registered Psychologists. This is a much enjoyed aspect of Karen’s work.
